Overview

MET Healthcare delivered the turnkey design and construction of two new operating theatres at Altnagelvin Area Hospital, including one orthopaedic theatre and one general theatre, with all associated support spaces and infrastructure.

The project was completed on time and within budget while maintaining full hospital operations throughout.

Scope of Works

Turnkey design and build of two new modular operating theatres at Altnagelvin Hospital, including full integration with existing hospital infrastructure.

Scope included:
• Construction of two new modular theatre suites connected to existing surgical areas
• Full mechanical and electrical installations, including IPS/UPS, medical gases, and integrated BMS systems
• Installation of pendants, UCV canopy (orthopaedic theatre), PACS panels, surgical lighting, theatre control panels, and pressure stabilisers
• HPL hygienic walling, doorsets, flooring, ceilings, and infection control finishes
• Fire stopping, acoustic separation, and lead shielding as required for surgical use
• Validation, commissioning, and handover to full HTM/HBN standards
• Sequential shutdown to ensure one theatre remained operational throughout
