Overview

MET Healthcare were appointed as Principal Contractor to deliver the turnkey construction of a new operating theatre suite at the Ulster Independent Clinic in Belfast. The project involved full demolition, new build extension works and complete mechanical, electrical and plumbing installations, all undertaken within a live clinical environment.

Working closely with the hospital’s estates and clinical teams, MET delivered the project ahead of programme and under budget through efficient sequencing and early coordination of commissioning activities. The new facility achieved full HTM and HBN compliance and was completed four weeks earlier than scheduled.

Scope of Works

Turnkey delivery of a new operating theatre suite, designed, constructed, and commissioned to full healthcare standards within a live hospital environment.

Scope included:‍

• Full demolition and enabling works carried out within active clinical areas
• Construction of a new extension housing two operating theatres, scrub areas, preparation, recovery, and support rooms
• Complete mechanical, electrical, and plumbing installations to HTM and HBN standards, integrated with existing hospital systems
• Installation of MET Healthcare’s proprietary HPL hygienic walling and ceiling systems for infection control and durability
• Commissioning, validation, and end-user training to ensure full operational readiness at handover
